The pop-up Goop store owned by Iron Man actress Gwyneth Paltrow was robbed of over $173,000 worth of jewelry. The ground floor shop, located in New York's famous Columbus Circle, was targeted by a group of thieves who took advantage of the Christmas crowds by quietly breaking into one of the display cases and walking out with the lavish merchandise.

Police, who are referring to the incident as a "grand larceny, not a robbery", claim the items stolen included a $106,000 Bulgari bracelet a $43,750, 18-karat David Weiss bracelet and three men's Rolex watches valued at $12,000, $7,470 and $3,995.

A 21-year-old witness claimed she saw the three crooks casing the store, then while two of them distracted the staff the other one used an "unknown object" to pry open the glass that contained the expensive items. Employees called 911 but by the time the police responded to the call the perpetrators fled are are still at large.

While the burglarized store was recently opened on November 24, the Shakespeare in Love Oscar-winner has opened previous Goop stores in Los Angeles, Chicago and Dallas.

A representative for the posh store owned by the Mortdecai star claimed, "There was an isolated incident Saturday afternoon involving a very limited number of items, which was reported to the NYPD. While the store was crowded during one of our busiest days, thankfully the NYPD responded quickly, our customers and staff are safe, and we remain open for business with proper security precautions in place."

Goop originated from a weekly lifestyle and food newsletter that Paltrow started in 2008. The New York location features several rooms with home décor, fashion and beauty products by designers including Nili Lotan and Stella McCartney. Ironically the 43-year-old ex-wife of musician Chris Martin actually visited the store only a week ago.

Employees had no comment about the heist but assured everyone they'll be open till Christmas Eve.
