'The Leftovers' Season 3 Spoilers: Will Justin Theroux's Kevin Garvey "Stop" Guilty Remnant?

From creators Damon Lindelof and Tom Perrotta, the Season 2 finale of The Leftovers aired on HBO. If there is a potential Season 3 of The Leftovers, will former police officer Kevin Garvey (Justin Theroux) find a way to stop The Guilty Remnant?

In the second season finale, members of the Guilty Remnants marched across the bridge into the town of Jarden. It was suspenseful hour of miracles as Matt (Christopher Eccelston) discovered his paralyzed wife, Mary (Janel Moloney) walked and talking again. While the town was taken over by the cult, Kevin fought his way through Purgatory, singing Simon and Garfunkel's "Homeward Bound," order to return to the land of the living. As John (Kevin Carroll) witnessed his family fall apart, Kevin found himself reunited with his entire family, who were broken after the Departed.

In an interview with Variety,  the former Lost showrunner discusses the conclusion of Meg (Tyler)'s revenge scheme as the Guilty Remnant has taken over; whether or not if viewers should be looking into social commentary, "It was impossible to write the Meg episode without being aware of current events... but "The Leftovers" has never been a "ripped from the headlines" show and while we're deeply affected by the senseless and confusing violence both here and abroad, the story we're telling is more interested in how our characters' psychological and spiritual confusion often leads to very bad choices."

As for what could happen in third season, Lindelof dishes to TV Line about his idea, "The one thing that I would say to you is that Scott Glenn is a starting pitcher that we have used as a relieving pitcher. I would really like to see some more of Kevin Senior. And not just in the present, but in the past."
