On Monday, Chelsea lost to Leicester City by the score of 1-2. The loss puts the reigning champions in 16th place, just a single point ahead of the relegation zone. It's officially time to panic in London. Things have gone from bad to worse for the team affectionately referred to as 'The Blues,' who are experiencing buckets of it.

From the opening whistle at King Power Stadium, Chelsea looked uncomfortable--the pace, movement and energy of Leicester City gave an aging Chelsea defense more fits than a toddler who had just spilled ice cream. (Mint chocolate chip ice cream, at that.) Jamie Vardy, the Premier League's break out star of the year, put the home team ahead just before half time when he stroked home a well taken volley, his 15th goal of the year. Minutes after the break, Riyad Mahrez all but sealed the three points when he curled home a sensational goal from a tight angle.

The result further epitomizes both sides unlikely season. Leicester City, who narrowly avoided being relegated last year, are now leaders of the Premier League. Again. Every week seems to be the week that their pinned to falter, and yet every week they remain at the top. Conversely, Chelsea were hands down the best team in league last year. It wasn't even all that close. What makes their struggles even more confounding is that the team's makeup has remained largely unchanged--it's why many pundits predicted Chelsea to be repeat as champions of the league. That is, until they stepped foot on the field and started playing.

Since the opening week they've looked bad. Perhaps worse than that--think Karaoke night on a Tuesday. At 16 games into the season Chelsea are fighting for their Premier League lives. It's not when will Chelsea snap out of it anymore, it's will they? If they continue their abysmal form, the team comprised of all-star talent, headed by a coach nicknamed 'the special one,' could very well be looking at the unbecoming fate of being relegated out of the Premier League.
