Sometimes there's just nothing like watching movies to make you cry (SPOILER: We all cry at the movies). Films like Inside Out and Creed – and surprisingly, Star Wars – are all about bringing out our emotions and if a film is powerful enough to make you shed some tears, then it has done its job!

Although we presumably go out of our way to avoid great sadness in our own lives, it's certainly odd that we specifically seek it out in the movies we watch. Some of our favorite films are the ones that make us cry the hardest.

Here's 5 tearjerker movies in 2015.

But a warning, we've got some SPOILERS in here.

1. Mad Max: Fury Road
Films have certain beats that audiences have been trained to expect. When a woman like Furiosa spends her entire life trying to get home – going through hell and high water – she’s supposed to be welcomed back in triumph!

It was a punch in the gut to realize it was all for nothing; the Green Place was taken like everything else in this hard, unrelenting desert and Furiosa can be heard in a blood curdling scream.

2. Star Wars: The Force Awakens
The death of Han Solo just basically ruined our childhood. The beloved character and our childhood hero was killed by his own son, Kylo Ren played by Adam Driver.

What’s fascinating about the scene, other than the phenomenal acting work by Driver and Harrison Ford, who provide an intimate, heartbreaking moment in the middle of a massive fight that ends in a planet exploding, is the inevitability of it.

This means that Ford finally received his wish, to die on screen in a Star Wars movie and to have Han Solo get killed off, heroically.

3. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2
The film took everyone by surprise in a final scene where a raw, messy display of grief from Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) could be felt as she vents her rage at the senseless death of her younger sister, Prim.

Lawrence takes it to the edge here, wringing real emotion from a film that didn't require it.

4. Creed
Some of the movie’s most memorable images are Sylvester Stallone and Michael B.Jordan facing each other in a workout and swaying in synch as Rocky (Stallone) tells Adonis (Jordan) that he’s still watching him and training him though others might be teaching him specific skills.

In a typical Rocky movie, there are some emotional scenes but the most tissue-worthy was when Adonis confesses to Rocky that his goal in life is to prove that he wasn’t “a mistake.”

Rather than any of the pounding ring action, the intimate admission gives this film its knockout moment.

5. Inside Out
Bing Bong represents childhood in its purest form, and sometimes it's really painful when you have to let go of your childhood memories.

Joy and Sadness come across him on their adventure back to the headquarters and he quickly becomes a fundamental part of the story.

When things go hard and Joy and Bing Bong fall into the forgotten part of Riley’s mind, he decides it’s time for him to let go. Giving Joy the extra boost she needs, she escapes the forgotten but sadly, Bing Bong slips away, telling Joy “make sure she goes to the moon for me.”
