There are plenty of interesting new characters in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but none are quite as mysterious and dangerous as the villain Kylo Ren. Here are some of the secrets kept by the hot-tempered Knight of the First Order who is played by Adam Driver.

[SPOILERS AHEAD]

His Real Name is Ben

That's right; he shares the name with Ben Kenobi, who is better known as the Jedi Master Obi-Wan. Although it doesn't quite have the same dangerous ring to it as "Kylo Ren," it's still the name chosen by his parents, who aren't ordinary either.

His Parents Were Heroes in the Battle of Endor

Kylo's mother happens to be an Alderaan princess while his father was a smuggler who eventually joined the Alliance. Being the son of Leia Organa (Carrie Fisher) and Han Solo (Harrison Ford) may already mean that people expect a lot from Ben, especially when he started training with his uncle.

His First Master was the Last Jedi

Kylo was trained by Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) and was eventually made into an apprentice due to his natural skill and power with the Force. However, he was seduced into the Dark Side by Supreme Leader Snoke (Andy Serkis) with the promise that he will be greater than his own grandfather.

He Wants To Be Better Than Darth Vader

The Force Awakens director J.J. Abrams has confirmed that Kylo aspires to be better than the Sith Lord by completely eliminating the Light and fully embracing the Dark Side.

"He idolizes what Vader represents and what Vader was trying to do," Abrams explained. "The idea that Vader didn't succeed, if you look at it from Ren's point of view, he was seduced by the enemy and failed because of that seduction. So the idea is that Ren wants to complete the thing that Vader started."

He Is Not A Sith Lord (Not YET, anyway)

Despite being a follower of Snoke and the leader of Knights of Ren, Kylo has yet to attain the title his grandfather held. At the end of The Force Awakens, Snoke orders General Hux (Domhnall Gleeson) to collect the defeated Kylo so he can undergo his "final training." But what was his first test to prove himself to Snoke?

He Could Be Responsible For the Jedi Temple Slaughter Part 2

Like Vader, Kylo may have been ordered to kill all of the padawans and younglings that Luke had been training. The horror could have been what made the Jedi Master disappear for a long time until the Force is awakened.

He Could Also Be Responsible for Rey Ending Up in Jakku

Rey's flashback scene in The Force Awakens may have teased that Daisy Ridley's character had already encountered Kylo before. There are theories that suggest that she survived the slaughter and someone (possibly Luke) brought her to Jakku to keep her hidden. The reason why she was saved could be a completely different story, but there is still the fact that Kylo failed to kill his greatest opponent.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens is currently showing in theaters worldwide.
