The star of the upcoming film Bridget Jones's Baby, Renee Zellweger, is finally speaking out about all of those plastic surgery rumors. In October of 2014, Zellweger famously stepped out at an Elle event in Beverly Hills sporting a very different look than in the past, leading many to speculate that she had extensive plastic surgery done. The actress talked to Entertainment Weekly about that difficult time.

"What good can come from knowing that something like that happened? Less fear, sure," Zellweger told the outlet while on set filming for the third movie in the Bridget Jones franchise.

It may be hard to believe, but Zellweger says she actually never read anything that was said about her new appearance. She said:

"All that I know about is what friends and associates would send in texts and emails. They were sending support, which means that I must have needed it, and I prefer it that way. So when people come up to me to ask 'How did that feel?' I don't know, and I like it like that. I don't know. I know it sounds pretty unlikely that a person might be able to make herself, I guess, keep clear of those words or of that experience, but I have and it takes effort. But I have succeeded."

At the time of the controversy, the actress told People that she was "glad" that people noticed she looked different. She credited the new look to "living a different, more fulfilling life."

Zellweger took a break from acting from 2010 to 2014. She will next be seen in The Whole Truth, Same Kind of Different as Me, and Bridget Jones's Baby.

The third film in the popular Bridget Jones series will also star Colin Firth and Patrick Dempsey. The film is slated for a Sept. 16, 2016 release.
