The cast of Arrow has expanded once again, as Season 4 of the show will bring the DC Comics character called Vixen to life when Megalyn Echikunwoke joins the CW series.

TVInsider first exclusively reported that Echikunwoke, who voiced the character in the CW Seed's Vixen cartoon web series, will lend her talents on screen fully to the CW's flagship comic book series.

"We're not only thrilled to be further expanding our DC television universe by bringing in the live-action incarnation of the CW Seed hit, Vixen, we're immensely excited that Megalyn will be revisiting her role as Mari McCabe," said Marc Guggenheim, executive producer of both shows.

Vixen, whose civilian name is Mari McCabe, is an African orphan who has the ability to transform into any animal. On the animated series, Vixen has already crossed paths with Oliver Queen aka the Arrow (played by Stephen Amell in live action), Felicity Smoak (played by Emily Bett Rickards in live action) and Barry Allen aka the Flash (played by Grant Gustin in live action). So it should be very interesting to see what happens when the character transforms from a 2D animation into a full-fledged human being.

TVInsider notes the character will appear in the 15h episode of Season 4, which is tentatively scheduled to air on Wednesday, February 24th. The episode's title and plot are at this point unknown.

The CW has been progressively building a cohesive and expansive DC Comics universe on television, and this appears to be the latest step in that direction. The Flash spun off of Arrow, and the upcoming DC's Legends of Tomorrow is building off of both those series. The animated shows expanded the CW's world even further, and now those cartoon characters are starting to come to life.

If only Supergirl could show up somehow...
