Though Maggie Smith's five-decade-long career, with two Oscars, has turned her into an acting legend, these days she's best remembered as Professor Minerva McGonagall in the Harry Potter saga and as the Dowager Countess Lady Violet of Grantham in Downton Abbey – and still, Smith hasn't ever actually seen the period drama!

According to Entertainment Weekly, the actress, who turned 81 only a few days after the last episode of Downton aired in the United Kingdom, has been asked on repeated occasions if she's a fan of the show – and to everyone's dismay, she hasn't even seen it.

It appears as though Dame Smith doesn't find the concepts of "weekends" and relaxation as odd and middle-class as her TV persona, but she still doesn't fill her days with keeping up with the show that's brought her one Golden Globe and two Emmy Awards.

The legendary actress has been outspoken in interviews about never having seen the show, and she's shown a lot of relief over it ending after five years and six season. Moreover, she definitely won't be missing the stuffy early 20th century clothes her character is forced to wear.

On an interview on CBS' Sunday Morning, the actress confirmed that still she hasn't watched the show, but that she might actually be getting some time to do so now that her schedule is more open.

"They gave me the boxed set. And I'm going to do all sorts of things now, 'cause I'm free!" said Dame Smith excitedly.

Still, the actress behind the quick-tongued Dowager admitted that she hadn't been entirely honest when it came to her corset-wearing; in fact, she sometimes sat very straight up and pretended to be wearing one of those dreadful figure-making things, cheating her way out of actually doing so.

That's why she's also the Head of Gryffindor!
