Season 5 of Person of Interest is slated to return in 2016 on CBS. This is the perfect o perfect opportunity to check up on Harold Finch (Michael Emerson), John Reese (Jim Caviezel), Sameen Shaw (Sarah Shahi) and Root (Amy Acker) and why we're so excited for their return in the new year.

As we previously mentioned, from the beginning, former billionaire Harold Finch (Emerson) and ex CIA operative John Reese (Caviezel) raced against the clock to prevent violent crimes before they could happen. With the help of the artificial intelligence known as The Machine, they managed to save innocent lives right when their numbers popped up. But they never expected to go up against an even greater threat known as Samaritan.

We have 5 reasons why Person of Interest should be watched in 2016:

5) The Action

How many times have you watched this show and were just blown away by the action sequences? During the thrilling chase sequence, Control (Camryn Manheim) turned back and saw Reese take out a rocket launcher. Seriously, who carries a rocket launcher with them?!?

4) The Supporting Cast

You just cannot mention this show without Taraji P. Henson (Empire) as Joss Carter. I am very anxious to hear that witty one-liner from Lionel Fusco (Kevin Chapman), who managed to steer clear from Samaritan's radar. And then, there's Paige Turco, who is just sexy as hell when she returns as Zoe Morgan.

3) If-The-Else

My favorite episode from the fourth season was If-The-Else. As audience members, we see how the Machine thinks as it tries to figure out how to save Team Machine. In just one episode, the entire cast meets their demise at the hands of Martine and her operatives.

Bonus: In our MStars interview, Emerson describes the episode, "Well that was certainly a really interesting and conceptual episode. I loved reading it. It was hard shooting, because it was repetitive, but with subtle differences every scene. That's a unique experience in my television career to have shot an episode that was constructed that way."

2) That Cliffhanger!

In the closing minutes of the season finale,YHWH, everything came down to Team Machine against an army of Samaritan's agents. When Pink Floyd's Welcome to the Machine started playing, Finch walked out in slow motion, with no gun whatsoever in hand, alongside Reese and Root as they started shooting Samaritan's agents. All they had was just a briefcase with a blinking light, signifying the Machine's fading heartbeat. How the hell do you top this scene?

1) We Have To Know What Happened To Shaw!

Relevance happens to be the episode that introduced us to Sameen Shaw and made us fall in love with actress Sarah Shahi. To see Shahi and Acker share the screen together as Shaw and Root, their chemistry together prevents you from looking away. Where the hell has Shaw been since she was kidnapped by Samaritan's agents? We need the answers now!

Person of Interest  will return to CBS for its fifth season in 2016. Season 4 arrives on Netflix December 30.

Readers, which episode are you excited to see POI return?
