Fans of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. have been expecting Skye (Chloe Bennet) and Grant Ward (Brett Dalton) to form a romantic relationship since the pilot. But given all that has happened through Season 3, is a pairing between the two still possible? We've got some spoilers below on that subject.

Executive producer Jed Whedon spoke to EW and raised a good point to all the so-called "SkyeWard" shippers. "Now she's not Skye and he's not Ward," he said with a laugh.

And this is true. Skye has transformed from a hacker who wanted to expose all of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s secrets to a powered Inhuman named Quake who can literally shake the ground at will. She also found her true family and learned that her real name is Daisy Johnson. Ward, meanwhile, revealed himself as a Hydra agent, killed most of his family, murdered Coulson's (Clark Gregg) new love Rosalind Price (Constance Zimmer), and is now the host for an Inhuman monster.

So does this mean SkyeWard is officially dead? Oddly, Whedon wouldn't call it that way. "He has changed, but just as we saw with Will, there was still some of Will left in him," Whedon says. "They're both altered humans at this point. I don't know. I feel like the chances are greater than ever."

Still, Whedon made clear that Ward is not on a road to redemption given all the horrific acts he has committed. As the executive producer points out, Ward seemingly has no desire for forgiveness, which is a key component of redemption. But he's amazed and grateful that fans are still debating Ward's morality this far into the show's life.

"The thing that's so fun to me is that people are still talking about it," Whedon said. "Some of his actions at the end of this first half of the season, I can't imagine how people still think that he's going to be redeemed, but the fact that they're still talking about it, that makes me super happy. We are such fans of his character and of Brett's portrayal of it. We love the debate. We can't believe it's still going."

As for what happens next, Whedon would only say that things will get "complicated."
