An extended film synopsis for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has just been released, and it offers more scary details on the "dark new threat" that Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck will need to defeat in the movie. Can Clark Kent and Bruce Wayne defeat this mysterious new enemy?

The UK cinema line VUE has released the lengthy new synopsis that mentions the aftermath of Superman's battle with General Zod in Metropolis, where the world is divided between people who see him as "an emblem of hope" and those who believe that he is "a threat to humanity" who needs to be brought to justice.

The synopsis also confirms that Bruce Wayne thinks the Man of Steel is "a danger to society" and is prepared to take on the Kryptonian himself. It is for this cause that he puts on his cape and mask one more time.

The intriguing part of the synopsis refers to the new enemy as "a third man." An excerpt of the synopsis reads as follows:

"The rivalry between them is furious, fuelled by bitterness and vengeance, and nothing can dissuade them from waging this war. However, a dark new threat arises in the form of a third man: one who has a power greater than either of them to endanger the world and cause total destruction."

It certainly sounds like their dangerous Player 3 is Doomsday, whose powers were already displayed in the latest Batman v Superman trailer. However, it may also be referring to Lex Luthor, who is responsible for creating the villain and uses his intelligence and money as a different kind of superpower.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is directed by Zack Snyder and also stars Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Gal Gadot as Diana Prince/Wonder Woman and Amy Adams as Lois Lane. The film is scheduled for release on March 25, 2016.
