In the upcoming Bridget Jones's Baby, is Mark (played by Colin Firth) the father of Bridget's baby? Or is Jack (played by Patrick Dempsey)? Or is it neither? Turns out, not even stars Firth, Dempsey or Renee Zellweger (Bridget) know the answer!

Apparently, producers had Helen Fielding, who wrote the book Bridget Jones's Diary on which the series is based and who is also penning the film's script, to write three different endings for the film. All of the endings were shot.

The Sunday Express claims that each ending gives "different answers to the key questions: Who is the father? And who ends up stealing her heart?"

Zellweger told the Express she doesn't mind this level of secrecy, calling the move "brilliant." "It's kind of brilliant. None of the cast knows who fathered Bridget's baby or who she'll choose as her beau. The plan is to keep us all in the dark, right up to the premiere," she said.

The film will follow Bridget, now 43, as she find out that she is pregnant but has no idea who the father is. Mark Darcy has reentered her life, and she also has a new suitor in Jack, a handsome billionaire.

In the previous films, Mark battled with Hugh Grant's Daniel Cleaver for Bridget's affections. And although Grant's character is out of the picture, Colin Firth doesn't necessarily believe his character will be victorious this time around. "Mark didn't think Daniel was better than him," Firth said. "This guy Jack seems to be more of the charming good guy, and in some ways that's scarier."

For her part, Zellweger told Entertainment Weekly last month that she loves the character and her various storylines. "This is part of the new challenge, discovering where she is now in her new life," Zellweger said. "But as an actress, it feels like stepping back with an old friend. I love this character, I like that she tells stories about what it's like to be a woman and these really relatable situations at certain times in life. It's so right to tell a story about Bridget in this stage of her life."

Audiences will find out (or perhaps not!) who the baby daddy is come Sept. 16 of this year, when the film opens.
