Former New York Giants coach Tom Coughlin gave a farewell speech that focused on singing the praises of quarterback Eli Manning. It was announced on Monday that Coughlin would no longer be the head coach for the Giants and on Tuesday, it was his turn to say goodbye.

Although it was inevitable Coughlin would not continue as the coach for the Giants, that does not mean his departure was easy for the team, the organization, fans or the former coach himself. During a press conference on Tuesday, Coughlin got a chance to talk about the team he coached for 12 seasons, as well as his plans for the future. He revealed to the press that he is not sure what is exactly in store for his future but he would not rule out coaching again.

Despite being very nervous, which he totally admitted to, Coughlin took the time to sing the praises of Manning, his star quarterback. He addressed Manning personally, making it clear that nothing was the quarterback's fault with this statement: "Eli it is not you. It's us." A simple statement, yet one that said oh-so-much about the professional relationship between these two men and the respect Coughlin had for Manning. The speech went on with a little more praise for the type of man the quarterback is and his work ethic.

All in all, Tom Coughlin's farewell speech was not only very well crafted but appeared as though he truly spoke from the heart when talking about Eli Manning. That being said, as you can tell by watching the video it was not all smiles and roses at the press conference. Once it was all said and done Coughlin exited the stage and walked right past the Giants CEO and president John Mara.

Oh yes, there is definitely some tension between these two men but we all already knew that didn't we.

Coughlin may be done with New York for now but don't count him out as being done with the NFL just yet. Something tells us football fans will see him again in some capacity having to do with the sport he loved.
