Over the weekend, pop sensation Carly Rae Jepsen took some time off from her busy tour schedule to throw the first pitch at the Tampa Bay Rays home game. The Rays invited the 27-year-old singer to throw out this ceremonial first pitch since she was also part of the franchise's post-game concert series. Unfortunately for Jepsen, she managed to embarrass herself by spiking the baseball to the ground, which then made its way to a photographer, knocking the camera out of his unsuspecting hands. 73-year-old soul legend and former frontman of the Civil-Rights-era band The Chambers Brothers, Lester Chambers, dedicated his cover of Curtis Mayfield's "People Get Ready" to Trayvon Martin over the weekend and was assaulted on stage for doing so. The alleged attacker, 43-year-old Dinalynn Andrews Potter, was arrested after the incident and charged on suspicion of battery but has since been released. Thom Yorke and his longtime collaborator and producer, Nigel Godrich, have publicly announced their disdain for the music streaming service Spotify on Twitter and have decided to withdraw some of their work from the service's catalog. Yorke, the lead singer of innovative modern rock n' roll band Radiohead, will pull his solo album, The Eraser, and his latest album with his band Atoms for Peace, AMOK. Godrich, who was heavily involved in these two projects and has removed his band Ultraista from the service as well, has described this stance against Spotify as a "small meaningless rebellion." Over the weekend, George Zimmerman was pronounced not guilty of murdering 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, which resulted in a number of protests that were organized in some of the country's major cities. New York City and Los Angeles held some larger protests in response to the acquittal but throughout the country more popped up, including Oakland, Boston, Miami, Atlanta, Detroit, and Sanford, Florida. This of course also means that the royal baby is clearly not named yet, either, even if most insiders are claiming a girl named Alexandra will be welcomed into Kate Middleton and Prince William's arms. By now, we all know that John Hurt is playing some sort of a "missing link" Doctor in the upcoming 50th anniversary special of BBC's Doctor Who. The season 7 finale definitely left us with a whole lot of questions, but apparently Hurt will be a Doctor from the past that links Eight and Nine together. After bringing attention to a certain group of fans who decided to ring the One Direction boys' rooms during their North American leg of the 2013 "Take Me Home" tour, singer Liam Payne pretty much immediately apologized for "losing it" on Twitter. He was very angry and tired when it happened a few weeks ago, but let his fans know that he felt bad for going off like that. FOX's hit murder mystery drama has been off the air for a few months now, but the season one finale has left viewers in high anticipation of the second season.
