We haven't seen too much footage from the upcoming Crystal Dynamics video game Rise of the Tomb Raider, the sequel to 2013's Lara Croft franchise reboot, but now we can share brand new gameplay with you! Perhaps one of the biggest video gaming franchises has to be the Lara Croft series. A recent reboot gave the character a great new origin story, but we didn't really see any of the "raiding" that was so attractive about the first games. Well, in the upcoming Rise of the Tomb Raider video game, we'll get plenty more of Lara exploring mixed in with plenty of action. Thanks to a new demo that premiered at the 2015 Gamescom events this week, we're able to show you six minutes of in-game footage of the new title, which has a 2015 release date. Square Enix announced last year that the highly anticipated video game Rise of the Tomb Raider would be released as an Xbox exclusive through Microsoft. This doesn't mean PC and PlayStation won't get the game, because they will, but just not in 2015. Why was this decision made though? It has clearly distanced Sony gamers from the franchise, but a new interview with the studio's CEO of the Americas and Europe, Phil Rogers reveals that the company's intentions were moral! When 'Tomb Raider' first came out for the Sega Saturn and original Sony PlayStation, it not only broke records but broke ground by having a female lead in Lara Croft who wasn't the stereotypical damsel in distress. That 1996 release sold more than 7 million copes, but it turns out it wasn't the most successful game in the series. As of this past weekend, the remake reached the 8.5 million mark and this news couldn't have come at a better time because the sequel 'Rise of the Tomb Raider' will be out soon.
