In a brilliant effort to further increase gender equality in India, the Youth Wing of Yash Raj Films' has launched India's first transgender fusion band, 6 Pack Band and the group has released their first single, "Hum Hain Happy" (We are happy).

"Hum Hain Happy" features all the six members of the group, along with Bollywood singer, Sonu Nigam at the end. The song is a rendition of William Pharell's "Happy." Bollywood actress, Anushka Sharma, who recently finished shooting for Karan Johar's Ae Dil Hai Muhskil with Ranbir Kapoor and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, supports the idea of upiftment of the third-gender in India. The actress even gave voice-over for the video and has some really heartwarming words for the community and how they are often misunderstood in current society. Sharma was quoted by Indian Express as stating:

"I believe that all living beings should be treated with the same respect and dignity. This song is one way to get everyone to tune in to that one thought and beat. Because often where words fail, music speaks."

Nigam, who got his international fame by singing "Kal Ho Na Ho" for Shah Rukh Khan launched the song. The singer said that he had always wanted to something special for transgenders and finally, after all these years, his dream to work for them has come true. The singer was quoted by The Asian Age as responding:

"When I was quite popular in 90's, I always wanted to do something for this community. I loved them on sets. I really liked the innocence in them. They all are like kids. They used to sing my songs on the sets."

"When I was a kid, I used to wonder 'what if I would have been born this way?' This was the reason behind me saying yes to this idea," the singer further added.

According to DNA India, the next song from 6 Pack Band, "Sab Rab De Bande" is reportedly slated for Jan. 26 release, will feature Nigam along with the band.
