There have been speculations that Mads Mikkelsen will be playing yet another villain in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story although the Hannibal star continues to deny the theories. However, new plot information and character details have just been leaked and it certainly suggests that Mikkelsen's character will be a bad guy ... with a twist!

MakingStarWars.net has reported about the new information, which also involves the female lead character that will be portrayed by Felicity Jones. According to the report, Mikkelsen's character "Galen" is the lead scientist in the Geonosian Death Star project and had helped in perfecting the plans for the planet-destroying weapon. Because of his accomplishments, Galen is a respected figure in the Empire and could be considered the genius behind the Death Star.

Although it certainly sounds like Mikkelsen will be an evil scientist bent on planetary destruction, the report adds that Galen eventually feels guilt over what he has done and decides to defect from the Empire to do the right thing. But what does he do to make up for his wrongdoings? He enlists the help of his daughter to steal the Death Star plans.

The plot thickens as his daughter turns out to be Jones' character, who has previously been rumored to be named Lyra Erso although the information has been proven to be false. There is a possibility that the character sets out to help her father make things right by taking a group of bounty hunters on a mission to find the plans for the Death Star.

The details may be exciting for anyone looking forward to Rogue One, but at this point, the information has not yet been confirmed and must be taken with a grain of salt.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is scheduled for release on December 18.
