While the holidays can be overwhelming (50% off of everything at IKEA, eek!), it's really meant to be a time for giving--something that Mike Trout fully embraces. The Los Angeles Angels center fielder took time out of his Christmas Eve to give presents and comfort to a New Jersey family in need.

According to SNJ Today, Barbara and Tony DeSimone of Buena Vista Township endured a house fire just days before Christmas. Thankfully, nobody was hurt, including the fire victims' children, Michael and Cecilia, who were at school during the time of the fire. However, the DeSimone's lost almost all of their personal possessions.

"Total loss; it's a total loss right now," said Tony Desimone. "All the contents have been destroyed by smoke and water damage."

The school that Michael and Cecilia attend immediately came to the families aid, compiling a donation of over $1,200 that very day. Not only that, but Mike Trout, a native to the surrounding area, heard of the situation and stopped by for a Christmas Eve visit.

"Your house burns down," said Barbara Desimone. "You don't have anything for Christmas and all these people are giving, giving, giving. Then bam! Mike Trout comes. It's like Santa Claus arrived."

Trout spent some meaningful time connecting with the Desimone's, providing gifts, as well as some much needed comfort.

"Especially, you know, you see how a lot of stars are in this day and age; they don't remember where they came from," said Tony Desimone. "But Mike, he's a true ambassador of Major League Baseball. He remembers where he came from and he really helps the people in this area."

Kind acts of service are becoming something of a regular thing for Trout, who, in August, met up with a young boy who had undergone life changing eye surgery.
