As if Mark Ruffalo's appearance as Hulk in Thor: Ragnarok wasn't enough to convince everyone watching Chris Hemsworth's third solo movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it seems one two-time Oscar winner will also be joining the projec. Cate Blanchett, who could be the next villain!

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight during the BAFTA Awards Season Tea Party over the past weekend, Ruffalo allegedly confirmed that Blanchett was in talks to co-star in the Marvel superhero film. The Lord of the Rings actress was at the same event, and when Ruffalo was asked whether he was happy his "Thor 3 co-star" was there, he had nothing but excitement at the possibility.

"I'm so thrilled," said Ruffalo. "I saw her at the Governors' banquet here and heard that maybe she was circling, they were talking to her about the part, so I ran up to her and I was like, 'Please, please, please, make this work!'"

It's been a few months since rumors of Blanchett joining the film began. Not too long ago, Jimmy Kimmel asked the two-time Academy Award winner (for Martin Scorsese's The Aviator and Woody Allen's Blue Jasmine) whether the rumors were true, and she smoothly deviated from the question by saying she'd be playing the female Thor.

Although she's obviously not even confirmed as part of the cast just yet, the rumors of whom she would be playing have already begun. Screen Crush speaks of a few possibilities, such as Hela (Loki's daughter, who reigns over the dead) as well as either one of the two characters nicknamed Enchantress, namely sorceress Amora and Sylvie Lushton, a character that Loki gives powers to in the comic.

Whichever the case, Blanchett, possibly the most respected actresses of her generation, would be amazing as a villain. Back in 2008, she played the bad guy in another Disney property, giving life to Soviet agent Irina Spalko in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
