The new superhero series DC's Legends of Tomorrow may feature a bunch of good guys from Arrow, but the CW show will also star two of the most memorable baddies from The Flash. Captain Cold and Heat Wave are played by Prison Break stars Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell and are expected to be up to some mischief in Legends, but will their move to the show mean that they're not coming back to Central City?

Legends of Tomorrow executive producer Greg Berlanti has just assured TV Line that The Flash villains and their new teammates will be returning to their respective shows after they defeat Vandal Savage (Casper Crump). That is, if they survive the encounter.

"They're supposed to be coming back to when they left, but obviously that ain't gonna happen!" Berlanti said.

But before fans start wondering if the icy Leonard Snart and the hot-headed Mick Rory could disappear from any future Flash storylines, it is best to remember that Berlanti didn't point out which of the Legends characters might not be returning. But there is no guarantee whether the pair will work well with their new team.

While Captain Cold and Heat Wave's absence from The Flash is (hopefully) not permanent, it appears that they and their fellow Legends have found the perfect time to take their leave so that the producers wouldn't have such a hard time explaining where they've gone.

"Were all the shows to have started at the same time [in the fall], that would be something we spend a lot of brainpower thinking about - like, how and when might we figure out ways to intersect some of these characters," Berlanti admitted before adding that it all works perfectly for the shows.

"They're off on their mission, [away] from the timeline as our [Arrow/Flash] characters are experiencing it right now," he concluded.

DC's Legends of Tomorrow premieres on The CW on January 21.
