Will Netflix Release 'Iron Fist' Before 'Jessica Jones' Season 2?

Fans have been waiting long enough for the Iron Fist series, which was announced way back in late 2013 together with Daredevil, Jessica Jones and Luke Cage. Luckily, there are new updates on the TV series for the superhero including casting news and maybe even a release date! But will Iron Fist premiere before the second season of Jessica Jones?

According to TV Line, Netflix content chief Ted Sarandos was present during the Television Critics Association winter press tour, where he confirmed that they are currently looking for the perfect Danny Rand to star in Iron Fist.

Finding the perfect Danny could take some time, but it is also possible that Iron Fist could be released this year, before the eventual premiere of Krysten Ritter's Jessica Jones Season 2. When asked whether Netflix could release two shows in one year, Sarandos had an interesting and hopeful response.

"It's certainly possible, but these [Marvel shows] are produced on a scale of a major film so there are long production times and long post times," he said, adding that crossovers could actually affect how fast things get done.

"In some cases we have character crossovers, which makes it a little difficult to manage production," Sarandos said. "It's not the goal to put out more than one or two a year."

It certainly sounds like it is possible to finally see Iron Fist this year, but that would still depend on how quickly Netflix can work on Mike Colter's Luke Cage following the release of Daredevil Season 2 in March.

Iron Fist is still expected to be released after Luke Cage, which is set to premiere sometime this year. Hopefully the series will start production before the second season of Jessica Jones so Danny can make his debut before joining Matt Murdock, Jessica and Luke in The Defenders.
