The Guardians of the Galaxy sequel, Vol. 2, will start shooting later this year, and new spoiler rumors say the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe film will get a little more crowded. Chris Pratt's Star-Lord will have some more company beyond Groot, Gamora, Drax and Rocket, as it's being reported that a few more characters from the comic book will be joining the James Gunn-directed space squad!

According to Geek, three new members will be joining the MCU's Guardians for the second part: Yondu (the space hillbilly from the first film, played by Michael Rooker), Nebula (Thanos' daughter, portrayed by Karen Gillan) and Mantis, a role not officially cast yet. So far, the only new addition to the cast is Old Boy actress Pom Klementieff, who could very well play Mantis, a character tied to "the Celestians, Kree cults" as well as the Guardians and Avengers.

It'd be pretty odd to see Nebula on the Guardians' team, considering the last time audiences saw her she was battling her sister Gamora (Zoe Saldana) until ultimately escaping. Still, if the two are fighting a common enemy, it'd make sense, though it might not be Thanos: Gunn revealed recently that the villain played by Josh Brolin won't have a big role in the sequel.

Earlier this week, the same outlet had revealed another major new character that would be joining the cast, calling it "one of Marvel's weirdest" -- Ego, the Living Planet. In the comic books, a cosmic wizard called The Stranger gave it consciousness, so Ego sets off to conquer other planets to find its sense of self.

So, yes, that sounds pretty peculiar but, in any case, so far no one aside from Klementieff has been cast in the sequel.

Days back, usually outspoken director/screenwriter Gunn revealed he would be stepping down from debunking Guardians theories until the film was released in the spring of 2017. In other words, nobody will be hearing anymore from official sources, so we still have more than a year to go crazy with rumors.
