Fans have been understandably curious about the character Felicity Jones will play in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, since she is set to be the lead in the standalone film. However, it looks like new details have surfaced about Alan Tudyk's character in the film!

According to JoBlo, Rogue One could be following The Force Awaken's winning formula of a strong female lead like Daisy Ridley's Rey and a scene-stealing droid like BB-8. However, the droid that will appear alongside Jones' character will not look anything like the popular astromech droid. Instead, it will be a reprogrammed Empire droid that walks on two legs, has long arms and could either be black or grey.

Although this mysterious new character may not have a huggable appearance, there is a great possibility that a talented comedian will be responsible for its personality. BB-8 has been revealed to be voiced by Saturday Night Live's Bill Hader, so could Tudyk possibly portray Rogue One's resident droid via motion capture or full costume?

Tudyk may have to sweat in a costume for the film. The former Firefly star has previously confirmed that director Gareth Edwards has taken a straightforward approach with Rogue One and avoided the use of too much special effects on the set.

"You are amazed at what you can look at, because it is a physical world. If there are creatures, then there are creatures; if there are spaceships, then there are spaceships," he said, adding that they didn't use any green screen.

"It's not huge swaths of green hung from the rafters. You have it all there, and if you don't have it there then you go fly some place that does," Tudyk said.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story will also star Diego Luna, Mads Mikkelsen, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen and Forest Whitaker. The film is scheduled for release on December 16.
