Makers of Randeep Hooda and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan starrer Sarbjit recently released the first look of Hooda and the actor's transformation from a six-packed action hero to a lean man is simply jaw dropping.

In the released picture, Hooda is completely unrecognizable. For his role as Sarabjit Singh, Hooda has donned a shabby bearded look, but the most interesting part of the released picture is Hooda's physique. For his role, Hooda has shed around 45 pounds of his weight in just a month.

It was earlier reported by Mstars News that Singh was an Indian farmer who did not commit any crime, but was thrown into Pakistani prison cell for a period of 22 years. The upcoming film, Sarbjit follows the story of Singh's sister, Dalbir Kaur (played by Bachchan), who has spent more than 20 years of her life trying to save her brother.

In an exclusive interview with Mumbai Mirror, film's director Omung Kumar said that at the beginning of pre-production, he told Hooda that he would like to see his bones. To achieve the target, Hooda cut down on his meals and drank a lot of coffee and water.

"He cut down on his meals, filling up on coffee and water, even when we were shooting in Palghar and gorging on some great food. In his years in jail, Sarabjit was kept in a 4x4 room and had rat bites all over him. The first time I met Randeep, I told him I wanted to see his bones. He took up the challenge and shocked even me."

Kumar is popular in Bollywood for directing biopic Mary Kom, which has won him the National Film Award for the Best Popular Picture in 2015. Now, the director wants to screen Sarbjit at Cannes Film Festival 2016. The talented director was quoted by Indian Express as responding:

"National Award was unexpected for me and I have always thought about Oscars so let's see. We're thinking to open it (Sarbjit) in Cannes on May 20."

The upcoming biopic is scheduled to release on May 19, 2016.
