For the third time in the past year, KFC has revealed a new Colonel Sanders impersonator to the world, Jim Gaffigan. In their latest Super Bowl ad, the company has revealed that both Norm Macdonald and Darrell Hammond are impostors and that the real Kentucky Fried Chicken founder has nightmares about them taking over his job.

According to Ad Week, Gaffigan made his début as the fried chicken-loving man last Sunday during the pregame broadcast, in a 30-second commercial. On it, Gaffigan's Colonel wakes up from a nightmare in which he's usurped of his identity by evil Macdonald.

Of course, the Colonel's biggest fear isn't that Macdonald has taken over his life entirely, but rather that he's the only one allowed to introduce the new KFC chicken.

"Only I can introduce KFC's delicious new hot chicken," says Gaffigan in the ad, speaking about the chain's new limited-time Nashville Hot Chicken offer.

This is the first of at least two ads starring Gaffigan, as there will be another one later this month called "Nightmare." When Macdonald was introduced in the role, he also said the previous Colonel was an imposter taking his name.

As CNN Money reports, the campaign to relaunch Colonel Sanders in the chain's advertising began last year, with Hammond playing the iconic figure. KFC has revealed that the campaign has been well received by consumers all over the country, and it has even "won over previously skeptical consumers."

Harland Sanders was the founder of Kentucky Fried Chicken and later also became the company's public face. Although he died in 1980 at 90, since his passing the company has continued to honor his name and likeness in its advertising campaigns.

Starting last year, KFC didn't only reintroduce the character to its TV spots, but they even launched it in comic book form, with the Colonel even teaming up with DC superhero The Flash to fight evil.
