Deadpool is officially a resounding success for Fox, as the R-rated Ryan Reynolds film about everybody's favorite wise-cracking Marvel mercenary shattered records on its opening weekend alone. Now, the question is, Will Fox follow it up with an equally-R-rated movie featuring Wade Wilson's former teammates X-Force?

If you ask Deadpool producer Simon Kinberg, then the answer is "Why not?" The producer recently had a Q&A with Collider, where he was asked if it is possible to see more R-rated X-Men movies. His response was very hopeful.

"I think there are some stories that could be R-rated," Kinberg said, although he initially didn't mention which films could be given the adult treatment.

"I don't know what they are," he said. "I mean I think the mainline X-Men movies have their own tone, which is a more operatic tone. It's more dramatic, it is more PG-13 in a way."

However, Kinberg eventually confirmed there is one particular film that could follow in Deadpool's footsteps.

"X-Force I could see being R-rated, and who knows?" he said.

It would make sense to take X-Force in the same direction. After all, the comic book series features a group of mutants who have a decidedly more aggressive way of taking out the competition. However, Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld was quick to warn Kinberg that fans might assume that he has announced that X-Force will get an R-rating. In that case, Kinberg clarified his comments.

"I'm saying I could imagine a universe in which [X-Force is R-rated]," he explained.

X-Force was initially announced in 2013, however there are still no updates on when the project will start production. Despite the long delay, our previous report revealed that Reynolds is pushing for X-Force in the same way that he had campaigned for Deadpool.

Deadpool has earned $300 million in worldwide sales during its opening weekend.
