The long wait is finally over. Fans who have been waiting for Stephen Amell to wear comic book Oliver Queen's trademark goatee got an early treat when the Arrow star tweeted photos of the Green Arrow's appearance in DC's Legends of Tomorrow!

Amell is slated to appear as the future Green Arrow in Legends of Tomorrow in the episode "Star City 2046," where the Legends discover an alternate future where they were not able to defeat Vandal Savage (Casper Crump). The future may be bleak, but fans rejoiced when Amell took to Twitter and shared a still from the episode featuring an older Oliver complete with green hood and blond goatee.

In addition to the image of the Oliver from the future, Amell also shared a photo that shows White Canary (Caity Lotz), The Atom (Brandon Routh), Heatwave (Dominic Purcell), Hawkgirl (Ciara Renee), Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill) and Firestorm (Franz Drameh). The caption reads, "I count 6 Legends and.......... 2 GA's?"

The photo with the Legends offers a glimpse at possibly Connor Hawke, who might be the younger version of the Green Arrow. We won't know for sure until we see the episode.

It might seem like Amell is eager to share images of his character with the iconic facial hair, but just last year the actor had announced on Twitter that he would never don the Green Arrow's goatee. He later amended his statement with a tweet of the comic book character's picture. "If we're lucky enough to go 6 seasons I'll show up the first day looking like this guy," he wrote, adding in a follow-up tweet that he might be asked to shave immediately anyway.

Things have definitely changed since Amell's tweets in July, and although the Green Arrow's goatee will be seen in Legends of Tomorrow, fans are still hoping to see the present Oliver with longer facial hair in Arrow.

"Star City 2046," episode of DC's Legends of Tomorrow, will air on The CW on February 25.
