Vipul Shah's production venture Commando, which starred Vidyut Jamwal in the main lead opposite Pooja Chopra, did average business at the box-office when it was released in 2013. But it did have its share of positive reviews, since Jammwal tried his best to win over his audiences in the lead avatar. Now, the sequel to the action drama is all set to go into production.

In 2013, Commando, Jamwal's chiseled body, his six-pack abs, his portrayal of the unyielding commando in the film and his Kalaripayattu techniques in the action scenes, all won him accolades and fans alike. Trained in mixed martial arts and Kalaripayattu, Jamwal had worked hard to get into the skin of his character. The story of Commando followed the story of Jamwal's character, Karan, an Indian commando, who tries hard not to give in torture unleashed upon him by the Chinese Government. The entire story follows his escape from their cell and how he manages to live in India, where he finds that his ladylove, Simrit, played by Chopra, is in grave danger.

At a recent press event, Shah gave the news to the media that the team is very excited for the sequel of Commando. He was quoted by Indian Express as:

"We are very proud to take the film into a sequel. Obviously, now we have a bigger responsibility to live up to the challenge of making it bigger and better."

Now, after three years since the film's release, the sequel of the action drama, starring Jammwal in the lead, is all set to go on all floors. According to Bollywood Hungama, the actor, who played the main antagonist in Force, opposite John Abraham, is all set to reprise his role in Commando 2.

Talking about Commando 2 director, Deven Bhojani, Jammwal said that the film's producer, Shah understands the action and Bhojani knows how to execute the action sequences. The actor was quoted by Times of India as responding:

"Vipul sir is the man who understands action and can make superlative action films. I have seen Deven Bhojani sir's action serial Pukar. I was floored and have been seeing the detailed work he has put in. It is excellent."

A tough martial arts practitioner since the age of 3, Jamwal is currently on a high roll because he will get to play the hardened commando once again, who packs quite a punch with his slick action.
