The CW Network continues with the premiere of DC's Legends of Tomorrow. In episode 5, Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller) and Heat Wave (Dominic Purcell) join White Canary (Caity Lotz) as they take the fight to Vandal Savage (Casper Crump) in Star City 2046.

The team finds themselves being shot by the future Green Arrow. While Firestorm (Franz Drameh) works on the engine, Hawkgirl (Ciara Renee) and Atom (Brandon Routh) are having fun flirting with each other. Martin Stein (Victor Garber) senses his other half has feelings for Kendra and offers advice about confidence.

Out in the streets, Canary, Captain Cold and Heat Wave find themselves under attack. After the future Green Arrow gets shot, Canary makes a run to find him. Captain Cold and Heat Wave get into  brawl with a bunch of street thugs. Heat Wave seems to be enjoying himself with the women as Cold steals a bike.

Canary learns from Green Arrow that Oliver Queen has been dead since the Uprising. All of a sudden, Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill) points his gun at Slade's son, the new Deathstroke. While Firestorm tries to talk to Hawkgirl, Stein ends up getting the scoop from Ray. Martin is pleased that Palmer doesn't want to hook up with Kendra.

While Heat Wave starts partying, Cold has doubts about living in the apocalyptic future. Rip and Canary learn that Smoak technologies has been relocated in the basement. Missing one arm, a bearded Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) shows up with his gun raised. John Diggle Jr. has been wearing the costume after Diggle died.

Martin shakes his head as Atom wants to take a chance on Kendra. After Deathstroke crashes the party, he gives the orders for the death of Canary and Hunter. Heat Wave and Captain Cold have a standoff before making a truce.

During their search inside an abandoned warehouse , Heat Wave and Cold rescue their teammates but Diggle Jr. is kidnapped by Slade's gang. Firestorm, Canary, and Stein want to stay but Hunter doesn't want to meddle with the timeline. Cold knocks out Heat Wave and puts him in the cell. Unable to see eye-to-eye, Cold wants the glory but Heat Wave just wants anarchy.

With Diggle Jr. in danger, Canary gives Oliver back his bow. Martin warns Rip, what is the point of stopping Savage if they become as immoral as he is? During Diggle Jr.s execution, Canary is brought in as a distraction. With a robotic arm, Queen fights back, letting Green Arrow get the jump on Deathstroke.

As Queen and Deathstroke fight, the calvary shows up. Queen defeats Deathstroke and knocks him out. Canary wants to stay but Queen has Diggle Jr. as his partner; he's not alone. Firestorm watches as Hawkgirl turns down Atom. Ray though knows Firestorm has a crush on her, jokingly says she would have picked him.

Before leaving and jumping into another time period, Hunter tells Canary that every future is worth fighting for.
