Jennifer Garner Reveals If Ex-Nanny Was Behind Her Split With Ben Affleck

Actress Jennifer Garner is finally talking and spilling the tea on whether or not her ex-nanny was behind her decision to split from actor Ben Affleck.

During a new interview with Vanity Fair, Garner cleared the air quickly and let the magazine know that she was already separated before the nanny gossip started.

"Let me just tell you something. We had been separated for months before I ever heard about the nanny. She had nothing to do with our decision to divorce. She was not a part of the equation. Bad judgment? Yes. It's not great for your kids for [a nanny] to disappear from their lives," Garner explained.

Almost a year later, Garner finds herself still explaining things to her children. "I have had to have conversations about the meaning of 'scandal,'" she said.

As for her marriage, Garner claimed that it wasn't an act. "It was a real marriage. It wasn't for the cameras. And it was a huge priority for me to stay in it. And that did not work."

Reality hit the mother-of-three hard when her private life played out all over the news. Last year when Garner and Affleck announced that they were getting a divorce, Garner said it caused her to stay off of social media.

"I turned on CNN one day," she recalled, "and there we were. I just won't do it anymore. I took a silent oath with myself last summer to really stay offline. I am totally clueless about all of it."

Garner revealed how life was during conversations with her ex during their split. "Ben says, 'Oh, you just don't care,' and I say, 'No, it's the opposite.' It hurts me so much, and I care so much," Garner said. She decided not to "give a shit how the divorce looks to the outside world."

She continued, "I cannot be driven by the optics of this. I cannot let anger or hurt be my engine. I need to move with the big picture always on my mind, and the kids first and foremost."
