Paramount Pictures and MGM has finally released the first trailer of Ben-Hur starring Jack Huston and Morgan Freeman, and fans of the original classic cannot wait to see Ben-Hur riding those horses again.

1959's Ben-Hur was an American epic historical drama film, directed by William Wyler and produced by Sam Zimbalist. The epic featured Charlton Heston in the titular role. The film was adapted from Lew Wallace's 1880 novel, Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ. According to Box Office Mojo, the film was made against a budget of $15 million dollars and earned a whopping $74 million in the domestic market. Not only this, the film was nominated for 12 Academy Awards and won an unprecedented 11 awards.

It was reported by Deadline in 2014 that Paramount Pictures and MGM announced that they will co-produce a remake of 1959 Ben-Hur with Roma Downey and Mark Burnett, the duo who make the 2013 miniseries The Bible. The Shawshank Redemption star Freeman was later signed onto the film to play the role of Ilderin, the man who will teach the slave Ben-Hur how to become a champion chariot racer.

The released trailer shows Huston playing the titular role and how he gets betrayed by his own brother. The second half of the trailer shows how he meets Ilderin, who finally teaches him how to ride a chariot and take revenge on his brother instead of killing him directly. Watch the trailer below:

In an exclusive interview with Coming Soon, John Ridley, the screenplay writer of 2016 Ben-Hur, stated that the remake of 1959 will be quite different from the original novel and the prior movies. The writer also stated that fans of the original still talk about the exceptionally shot chariot race, so the current production team will focus on something more adventurous.

"I think it's an interesting project. It's certainly challenging. It's certainly one that people are going to come into with expectations, but like anything you do, you gotta exceed those expectations to a degree and also not worry about them because at its core, we hope and believe that we've got something that's unique," Ridley added.

Ben-Hur was originally slated to release on Feb. 26, 2016 in the United States but it was reported by Variety that Paramount Pictures later moved the releasing date to Aug. 12, 2016. The film will be released in regular 2D, 3D and Digital 3D.
