Fox continues with Wrath of the Villains in Season 2 of Gotham. In an exclusive interview with MStars News, actors Cory Michael Smith (Edward Nygma aka The Riddler) and Anthony Carrigan (Victor Zsasz) talk about the Batman prequel and adapting the DC Comics super-villains from the popular comic books.

In our previous recaps, Edward (Smith) discovered his friend, Oswald Cobbleput (Robin Lord Taylor), behind bars in his precinct. Unable to do anything, Nygma helplessly watched as the Penguin was taken away to Arkham Asylum. Though Zsasz (Carrigan) had brainwashed Butch Gilzean (Drew Powell), Tabitha Galavan aka Tigress (Jessica Lucas) unscrambled what the infamous hit-man had done to his head.

Before an all-new episode, Mad Grey Dawn, on Monday, March 21 at 8pm, the Gotham actors discuss becoming the live-action versions of the popular antagonists and what fans should expect from the infamous duo in Wrath of the Villains.

MS: With the fall of Theo Galavan (James Frain), how does Victor Zsasz become part of Wrath of the Villains?

Anthony Carrigan: Zsasz is lurking in the shadows. And when he pops up, you know it's going to be straight up terrifying!

MS: After having been in The Flash as (Kyle Nimbus/The Mist) and now in Gotham, though they're both antagonists, was there research into the characters to differentiate them?

AC: Yeah absolutely! I think research is a very important part of making the characters different. And they have their own fun vibes. So I love going to the source material and digging up as much as I can!

MS: With Penguin gone and Butch (Powell) taking over the mob reins, where does Zsasz's loyalties lie?

AC: You know, I don't think anyone really knows what's going through Victor Zsasz's head at any moment. I just think that there's an undercurrent of volatility at all times. So you really never know who's safe around him. That's what I'll say about that.

In our recent recap, with the Penguin unexpectedly released from Arkham Asylum, Bruce went solo on his quest for vengeance. After a run-in with Jerry (Lori Petty), Bruce stood face-to-face with Matches Malone (Michael Bowen), the hit-man who killed his parents. After Malone's suicide, Bruce went into hiding with Selina as he searches for some kind of meaning in Gotham City. With Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) investigating Kringle's murder, Nygma's dark side is slowly coming out.

MS: The bond between Nygma and the Penguin (Taylor) was a major highlight of the first part of season two, Rise of the Villains. Where is their relationship taking them in Wrath of the Villains?

Cory Michael Smith: Well you know they're buddies. But Penguin's on the run and I can't really help them anymore. So until I find him or we cross paths again. There's not much I can do but we'll get reunited eventually for better or worse.

MStars News: With Nygma's dark side coming out, how close are we seeing Edward fully becoming The Riddler?

Corey Michael Smith: Well, you know Eddie has some secrets. And his soul friend, Oswald, is lost. He's concerned about him and I have some secrets. I'm just trying to make sure all my tracks are covered. Jim is a very good detective. He's very good at his job and that's where I'm at.

Don't forget to check out our Gotham interviews with Sean Pertwee (Alfred Pennyworth), BD Wong (Dr. Hugo Strange), David Mazouz (Bruce Wayne), and Camren Bicondova (Selina Kyle).

Season 2 of Gotham continues on Fox Mondays at 8pm. Gotham has been renewed for Season 3.
