NBC's Blindspot S01E16: Any Wounded Thief Jaimie Alexander Sullivan Stapleton Premiere Recap

NBC continues with the midseason premiere of Blindspot. In episode 16, will Jane Doe (Jaimie Alexander) and Kurt Weller (Sullivan Stapleton) be able to solve another piece of the tattoo map in Any Wounded Thief?

The driver to an armored truck is suddenly shot in the head. Kurt finds his apartment empty now that Sarah is planning on moving out. Patterson (Ashley Johnson) receives a posthumous call from David, who made a reservation for the two of them. Kurt then gets into a boxing match with Edgar (Rob Brown), learning about the breakup. 

Kurt then tells Jane that it's Taylor Shaw's birthday when Allie (Trieste Kelly Dunn) shows up.  After Allie and Kurt make a date, Bethany Mayfair (Marianne Jean-Baptiste) gets the team together to discuss their latest case. The investigation of the truck leads to the discovery of chemical weapons. 

Patterson gets the name of Vanessa Chang as Jane gets a sudden flashback to Taylor Shaw's funeral/memorial. Tasha (Audrey Esparza) notices Edgar is being too hard on Vanessa Chang during the interrogation. With Sam Lee as their suspect, Patterson gives the team the antidotes in case they need them. After the team spot him, Sam starts a shootout in the middle of the streets.

Kurt makes a call on Sam's phone and gets a voice on the line. While Patterson decides to celebrate David at the restaurant, Bethany wants to learn how are Sam's accomplices. Patterson realizes the numbers were falsified, there were more canisters accounted for. 

As the team moves forward, Tasha argues with Edgar about his breakup with Sarah. Patterson asks for more people from Bethany but the budget doesn't allow it. Out in the snowy fields, the team separates as Jane remembers Kurt arguing with his father. After opening up a hatch, a chase underground leads to a mad bomber with his thumb on the detonator. 

The mad bomber did sell the canisters in the black market but he didn't ambush the guards. Jane takes down the bomber and takes apart the bomb. The bomber then names Vanessa Chang as his buyer. Patterson  goes through Vanessa's record and learns where the canisters are going. 

With their key card, Kurt and the team find themselves in a shootout with the dealers. After Edgar and Tasha take down the last dealer, Vanessa exposes Jane and Kurt the sarin gas. After injecting themselves with the sarin gas, four canisters still missing, 

Kurt and Jane interrogate Vanessa about her bosses. Because Vanessa doesn't know the targets, Patterson looks into the Nasdaq building in Times Square. As the team investigates different floors, Jane opens fire as Kurt spots the two canisters on the trade floor.

Tasha tells Edgar that he should get back together with Sarah, but he makes a fool out of her. Kurt gives Jane a necklace from Taylor's past. Kurt turns Jane down though for a birthday drink to be with Allie.

Bethany warns Edgar that he's scared, but he won't open up. As Tasha continues gambling, Patterson imagines being with David one last time.

As Oscar and Jane have sex, Patterson realizes David solved another tattoo.
