WGN America continues with the premiere their new original series, Outsiders. In episode 11, entitled Mortar, Big Foster (David Morse) and Little Foster (Ryan Hurst) are trying to defend their mountaintop homestead before the outside world takes it away from them.

Sheriff Wade Houghton (Thomas J. Wright) tries to console his sister as she mourns for the death of Breese. His niece starts talking back to Wade, blaming him for her father's death. Now sober, Wade realizes it's his fault and promises to arrest whoever is responsible. Back at his home, Big Foster has trouble getting it up with his new bride.

After Wade gets a group hug from his family, Asa heads into town to get the guns for his clan. Knowing there are people wanting to bring down Big Foster, Asa hands in the money and gets tricked out of his deal.  Meanwhile, Wade makes a connection to the bullet that killed Breese to the ones used in the gun shop shootout; the Farrells are involved.

As Asa (Joe Anderson)'s visit with the gun deals goes horribly wrong, Little Foster is about to kill Big Foster in the woods. Little Foster notices Big Foster is vomiting and talking to himself. His suspicions are correct; Big Foster has been poisoned.

Little Foster confronts G'Winn Farrell (Gillian Alexy) about what she's doing to Big Foster. he reminds G'Winn that she is supposed to be a healer. If she kills Big Foster, Little Foster knows there is no coming back from that.

The Deputy breaks into the house that Hasil (Kyle Gallner) and Sally-Ann (Christina Jackson) have been illegally living in. After Hasil beats the crap out of the Deputy, he makes a run for it with Sally-Ann. Though he doesn't like it, Hasil knows the only place to keep Sally-Ann safe is back at the mountain.

Wade arrests Asa but he isn't afraid in the interrogation room. Asa is willing to squeal on the sheriff but Wade just wants the man who killed Breese. Asa then makes a deal with Wade to bring in Big Foster.

After seeing Lady Ray on the road, Big Foster heads out in a different direction. At this point, Wade realizes Joe is not coming down from the mountain with Big Foster. Joe tries to warn the dealers but the Farrells starts shooting first. Just when Big Foster is about to kill Asa, gets another hallucination.

While the Farrell clan takes down the gun dealers, Joe witness Big Foster talking to himself and makes a run for it. Lady Ray laughs at Big Foster as he says he loves G'Winn. Wade and his Deputy get the call about a fire back in town.

During the night, Hasil and Sally-Ann find themselves in the middle of the forest, meeting the Doctor. Back at the mountaintop, Big Foster has brought back the big guns. Unable to control his emotions, Big Foster cries and holds onto G'Winn tightly as they have passionate sex.

During the night, Wade returns home, sees everyone asleep, and takes off his wedding ring. He stares at his ringless finger, thinking about his next move.
