After many fans had lost hope to see the most famous Gilmore Girls alum Melissa McCarthy join the cast of Netflix's revival show, things have finally aligned for the project: Sookie St. James will be returning to Stars Hollow! The Mike & Milly Season 6 actress just revealed she's opened her schedule up and show creator Amy Sherman-Palladino wrote her into Gilmore Girls: Seasons!

Last Thursday, McCarthy appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show to promote her newest film, The Boss -- and to make one fantastic revelation. During the show, the Emmy winner said she would be able to return to her first major show.

After explaining she'd been asked time and again to join the production. But for months, it had been impossible to work out her schedule to appear in Netflix's four hour-movie revival.

"There was a whole thing, and then I was going to be out of the country, and literally about an hour and a half ago, we figured out that I'm going to go back and do it, and I am so excited! They're going to be amazing," McCarthy told DeGeneres, to thunderous applause from the studio audience, then adding it'd be a joy for her to come back to Stars Hollow.

Out of the major players from the original show, McCarthy, who's gone on to become one of the biggest names in comedy and an Oscar nominee, was the only one who hadn't been confirmed. Aside from Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel, other beloved cast members returning include Scott Peterson, Kelly Bishop and Yanic Truesdale, as part of a pretty large list.

Before McCarthy confirmed the news, Entertainment Weekly had spoken to show creator and writer Sherman-Palladino, who revealed they were doing everything in their power to get Sookie back in Stars Hollow. At the time, Sherman-Palladino revealed they'd be shooting the revival until May 10, and she already knew what the scene with McCarthy would be, saying she'd "pre-light it for her" and it could just take two hours.

Finally, it's happening: we'll have the adorable and clumsy Firefly Inn chef back!
