Vampire Diaries Season 8 Spoilers: Will Nina Dobrev/Elena Gilbert Return For Finale Episode?

Nina Dobrev, who played Elena Gilbert on The Vampire Diaries, is not going to let the show end without her being part of the finale. Although her return is certain, the question now is for how many episodes will fans get to see her?

“At this very moment, it is expected that Nina will be a part of the show on a very limited basis,” an insider ctold Hollywood Life. “There is still tons of time to figure it all out and deal with proper scheduling, but it is going to be a less is more type of situation to finish her story.”

Dobrev's return was already expected when Kat Graham, who plays Bonnie Bennett, announced season eight would be her last. Her exit gives Dobrev the chance to return as Elena, since her character is dead as long as Bonnie is alive.

“Season 8 will be my last,” Graham told Us Weekly at the iHeartRadio Music Awards on April 3. “I just hope that whatever I do after, the crew can come with me. If the crew can come with me, then we’ll be good. The crew is going to be the hardest thing to let go because we’re a family.”

Ian Somerhalder also seemingly confirmed the news that Season 8 would actually be the end of the show. ppearing at the WalkerStalkerCon fan convention in Nashville, Somerhalder revealed that the show is officially moving toward a finale. “We have decided to do one last season to really do the story justice,” he said.
