The world was finally introduced to Felicity Jones' mysterious character in the Rogue One: A Star Wars Story trailer, which reveals her identity to be Jyn Erso. But could there be more to the rebel than meets the eye? Fans are already theorizing that Jones' character is actually the mother of Rey from Star Wars: The Force Awakens! Luckily, Daisy Ridley has the appropriate reaction to the new theory about her Episode VIII character's parentage!

Ridley recently attended the MTV Movie Awards 2016, where she was informed about the theory. The 24-year-old actress was quick to state that it didn't seem right.

"I'm not being funny you guys, but just because she's white and got brown hair ... you know what I mean?" she asked, adding that there's more to hair color to prove parentage.

"Like, it doesn't mean she's my mom," Ridley said before stating that the timeline might be a factor as well.

"Also, I don't know if that will work out, time-wise, because I'm trying to think how much time has gone ... I don't know," she said.

However, Ridley did offer a glimmer of hope for Star Wars fans who believe the theory.

"Maybe she is!" she said.

There have been several rumors surrounding the identity of Jones' Rogue One character, from the speculation that she is the daughter of Boba Fett (although they would be roughly the same age when Boba appeared in The Empire Strikes Back) to the possibility that Jyn isn't actually a real rebel from the Alliance.

There is no shortage of theories about Rey, but it looks like we need to wait until Episode VIII to find out if there truly is a relationship between her and Jyn.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is directed by Gareth Edwards and will premiere on December 18. Rian Johnson's Episode VIII is scheduled for release on December 16, 2017.
