Anyone who has seen the latest Suicide Squad trailer would know that the DC Extended Universe flick will be filled with plenty of humor and a whole lot of action sequences. However, Will Smith says that the film about Task Force X will also be "focused on the characters" and is expected to have a "very cool" ending!

Smith, who will play Floyd Lawton aka Deadshot in the movie, recently attended the Warner Bros. CinemaCon presentation in Las Vegas. The I Am Legend star spoke to ComicBook.com while out on the red carpet, where he gushed about working with Suicide Squad director David Ayer.

"It was really great to play this particular character with this particular group of people with this director," Smith said, explaining how Ayer made sure each member of Task Force X had their time in the spotlight.

"David Ayer, he's created this big, gigantic world - this Batman world but he was also only focused on the characters," he stated, adding that Ayer took the time to give Floyd some depth in how he deals with Jared Leto and Margot Robbie's characters.

"To do the level of character work that he was willing to do with understanding an assassin and then how that assassin interacts with the Joker and Harley Quinn... It was a great," Smith declared.

In addition to that, Smith shared that he was happy to portray the DC character as someone who enjoyed the comic books and also understanding Floyd in a more human level.

"It wasn't just fun in terms of the little boy elements of running around, jumping, and shooting," he said. "It was fun to treat Deadshot like a real person."

The Focus star also offered some hints on what to look forward to in the Suicide Squad climax.

"The ending of the movie is -- spoiler free -- the ending of the movie is a really unique way to have everybody collide," Smith revealed, stating that what happens in the last moments is something he has never done before.

"I'd never been in a scene like this with as many different elements as take place in the final sequence," he confessed, adding, "It's very cool."

Suicide Squad will premiere on Aug. 5.
