Barely a year before Benedict Cumberbatch broke the game as the most famous consulting detective, it was Iron Man himself, Robert Downey Jr., in the role created by Arthur Conan Doyle, accompanied by Jude Law's Dr. Watson. Recently, the actor revealed that Spider-Man: Homecoming isn't his only big project ahead: he's going back to Victorian England for Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes 3!

Downey is currently promoting his next blockbuster in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Captain America: Civil War, and that means a lot of interviews and information about upcoming projects. Among those was a sit-down with Shortlist, where he was asked whether he'd be taking part in another Sherlock Holmes movie any time soon -- and not only is it happening, it's also sooner than you'd expect, probably beginning to shoot later this very year!

"We're talking about it right now. We can do some preliminary stuff. If we could shoot it on Skype, we could have the whole [movie] done in a week," Downey confessed to the outlet. "When we're making those Sherlock movies it is off the hook. [So] we'll attempt to make one this year. It really is a big deal to go and do those movies. I'm tired all the time, but I'm so excited about it."

There's no doubt that Downey and Ritchie have been quite busy in the past couple of years. Since the second installment of the period franchise, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, Downey has been involved in multiple films including four Marvel movies, one he produced himself with his wife Susan Downey and also a small role in Chef. Ritchie, on his part, has had his hands full between last year's The Man from U.N.C.L.E. and the 2017 epic Knights of the Roundtable: King Arthur.

According to Blastr, Drew Pearce (who wrote Iron Man 3 and the story for Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation) is currently penning the Sherlock Holmes 3 screenplay. So far, the film has neither a release date nor a title.
