MStars News has learned that "charges will be filed" in the death of Howard High School of Technology student, Amy Joyner. Police Chief Bobby Cummings confirmed the news while speaking out on Monday to a crowd about the awful fight that happened inside of the school's bathroom last week.

During a town hall meeting, Cummings said: "We hope to have some closure by the end of this week," Cummings added, "We know that charges will be filed."

So far, no charges have been filed in the case but the Police Department and the state Office of the Attorney General have three individuals who are of interest for the fight that killed the 16-year-old girl.

The investigation is still open as officials try to figure out how harsh the charges will be.

"We did not want to rush to judgment," Cummings explained. "We would rather take our time to conduct this investigation the proper way. Charges will be filed, and individuals will be held accountable for their actions."

If you are just learning about this story, Joyner was killed last week after she was involved in a physical altercation with another female student around 8:15 am on Thursday morning, April 21. The fight happened inside of a girl's bathroom at the high school, and the fight appeared to be over a boy.

Another female student who was in a bathroom stall during the fight claimed that it was a one-on-one match until other girls started joining in and attacking Joyner. The witness allegedly saw the group of the girls slamming Amy's head on the sink, while other reports claim that Joyner "hit her head on the sink" during the fight.

After the fight, classes ended early on Thursday. A vigil was held Thursday night as classmates, friends and parents prayed and mourned the death of the young teen.

"Whenever we had a problem, she would come to us and talk to us, and I never would of thought she would be the girl that would get killed like that," a student named Atiyya Wilkes said.

MStars News will have more on this terrible story when we get updates.
