NBC's Blindspot S01E20: Swift Hardhearted Stone Jaimie Alexander/Jane Doe Premiere Recap

NBC continues with the midseason premiere of Blindspot. In episode 19, will Jane Doe (Jaimie Alexander) and Kurt Weller (Sullivan Stapleton) be able to solve another piece of the tattoo map in Swift Hardhearted Stone?

A child covered in blood walks across the street. Bethany Mayfair (Marianne Jean-Baptiste) wonders whether she did right by her former lover Sofia as she burns their photo. Jane meets with Oscar (François Arnaud), who shows her that she used to be a jazz fan. Jane wants to meet the others in their organization but Oscar has another mission; copy some files.

Pretending to leave, Jane then follows Oscar. Back at FBI headquarters, Kurt jokes around with Jane and reveals his father isn't doing great. Dr. Borden (Ukweli Roach) meets with the child, who draws in silence. He notices something in her drawings.

Patterson (Ashley Johnson) tells the team that the little girl has been drawing the logo of a terrorist organization. Dr. Borden and Kurt talk with the little girl and try to get through to her. She shows them a detailed drawing of her father, who is the leader of the organization. 

The team learns the girl is named Mia from Russell Franklin (William Ragsdale). Jane talks to the girl and promises she is going to be safe. Mia willingly gives up her sketchbook. Tasha (Audrey Esparza) gets the name of a journalist as a possible lead. Edgar (Rob Brown) interrogate the journalist as he refuses to give up any info.

Mia works tirelessly on a restaurant in the city. After Kurt finds glass to a broken window, Jane finds a dead body in one of the rooms. After investigating the room, they realize Mia could be the next target. In the interrogation room, the journalist learns Mia's mother was tortured to death. The journalist reveals he snuck Mia  and her mother out; he's the next target.

Posing as the journalist, Kurt takes down the three assassins. Dr. Borden offers his place to provide a safe house for Mia. Along with the others, Patterson jumps in to provide protection for Mia. the team has custody of Mia until Russell transports her grandmother. 

On their road trip, the team is discovered by more hired hit-men. At the safe house, Patterson smiles as she flirts with Dr. Borden. Back at headquarters, Edgar and Tasha discover they have been holding out on each other about Carter. On the phone, the grandmother reveals Mia has drawn all the faces of the terrorist organization.

With the power out and  phones cut, Patterson opens fire when the hit-men arrives. Dr. Borden saves her life and and kills one of the hitmen. As the shooting continues, Jane grabs hold of Mia. Patterson blows up the safe house, with the rest of the shooters inside. Mia warns Dr. Borden that Russell is a traitor. In the standoff, Kurt takes the shot at Russell.

In the locker room, Tasha tells Edgar that she's suspicious of Mayfair; she wants answers. As Jane slips in the device to copy the files, Bethany finds her date dead.  The caller warns Mayfair she's next if she continues investigating Carter's death.
