The story of Amy Joyner-Francis has impacted the nation. The passing of the 16-year-old Howard High School student after being jumped by three classmates has made an impact on anti-bullying and violence with the youth. After weeks of gathering evidence against the assailants, arrest warrants have been issued and the three teens responsible are now being charged with her death.

The news stunned that nation as it was discovered that Francis was killed over a boy. The three girls who are being charged took to social media some with remorse and others bragging about what they have done. Now the teens have to answer to the law.

According to Delaware Online, the teens are facing serious charges. Investigators were waiting for the results of the autopsy before moving forward with charges. And now that the results are in, they can move forward.

During the attack, Francis' head hit the bathroom sink that caused her to become unconscious. Initially, many believed that she died because of the injuries, but the autopsy tells a different story. The Medical Examiner determined that Francis died from a pre-existing heart condition. If she weren't attacked, the cardiac incident would not have occurred.

Currently the state Attorney General's Office is fighting to have Trinity Carr, 16, tried as an adult. Carr was seen on video punching Francis in the head and chest. She is being charged with criminally negligent homicide, which if found guilty, she will serve up to eight years in prison.

The video evidence shows Carr hitting Francis repeatedly in the head and torso region with a closed fist. At the end of the beating, Carr leaves and Francis tries to stand up but appears disoriented and collapses on the floor, according to court documents.

The two other young girls, Zion Snow and Chakeira Wright, are being charged with third-degree criminal conspiracy. If the girls are found guilty, they will spend up to one year in prison. Both girls had no prior arrests and they didn't actually put hands on Francis. They will be tried as juveniles.

Readers, what do you think? Should these young girls have harsher charges? Sound off below!
