Months after comedienne, actress and director Elizabeth Banks was announced in the role of Power Rangers villain Rita Repulsa in the movie reboot of the saga, another big name is landing in the Mighty Morphin universe: Bryan Cranston! The award-winning Breaking Bad actor has just officially joined the team, with no small role: he's the kids' leader, Zordon.

Last Tuesday, the actor took to Twitter to tell the world he was playing Zordon. In case you're unable to access that bit of information from your memory, Zordon is the floating head that made the Rangers come together as a team and serves as a mentor for them.

Cranston is best known for his role as Walter White/Heisenberg in the AMC cult series, Breaking Bad, a performance that earned him four Emmy Awards. Before that, he'd worked in comedy by playing the dad in Malcolm in the Middle. In the years since giving up the business of cable television meth, Cranston has continued to expand his résumé in different genres: from blockbusters with the newest Godzilla movie, to voice acting on Kung Fu Panda 3 and even historical dramas like Trumbo and the recent TV film All the Way.

In any case, the core Power Rangers team is comprised of a newcomer-filled cast, with the five teenagers being played by young, practically unknown actors: Naomi Scott as Pink Ranger Kimberly, Becky G. as Yellow Ranger Trini, RJ Cyler as Blue Ranger Billy, Ludi Lin as Black Ranger Zack and Dacre Montgomery as Red Ranger Jason. The characters seem to be the same as the first series, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.

Months back, Banks, famous for her roles in 30 Rock and The Hunger Games franchise, was cast in the role of main villain Rita Repulsa, and she became the best known face in the reboot. This week, to welcome her on-screen foe Zordon, Banks tweeted her greetings to Cranston.

A few months back, the first picture of Banks in costume was released to the public, and it was a pretty different turn from the 90s show.

Not long after the announcement of Cranston's involvement in the film, the official Power Rangers Instagram account released the first teaser poster for the movie, which is currently shooting.

The Power Rangers movie will hit theaters on March 24, 2017.
