Are you ready for things to get spooky? Over the last couple of weeks American Horror Story has been ramping up for Season 6 of the FX horror anthology as multiple teaser trailers have been released during the last few days. While these scary clips don't usually reveal the plot of the new seasons, fans have been slowly trying to connect the dots as to what the theme for Ryan Murphy's series could be. Well, the latest theory is that it could focus on the lost colony of Roanoke.

According to the AV club, the story of the Roanoke Colony has been one that has boggled minds since in the beginning of American history, when everyone from the town simply disappeared and the only clue that was left was the word Croatoan, which was carved into a tree.

This theory might not be too far off, as TMZ obtained picture from the Santa Clarita, CA set of Season 6, where the word "Croatoan" appears on one of the builds on one of the houses.

The site also further goes on to tell the story of Roanoke, saying that in 1590, 117 people disappeared from this North Carolina colony and that Croatoan was the name of the Native American tribe that lived close to the colony.

Also according to Nerdist, the cast and crew have been spotted in what looks like pilgrim-esque clothing on set, which includes Evan Peters, Lady Gaga, Denis O'Hare, Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett and Matt Bomer.

The site, however, does speculate that the whole storyline might not take place in Roanoke, as it was hinted that it would be set in two different time periods.

Take a look at one of the trailers below and see if it fits into the Roanoke theme.

The new season will premiere on September 14 on FX.
