Jim Carrey On Wrongful Death Charges: Ex-Girlfriend’s Troubles Were There Before He Met Her!

In response to a wrongful death lawsuit filed by his ex-girlfriend's mother, Jim Carrey explained that he has nothing to do with her death. Carrey said that she had these troubles long before they even met. "Sadly her tragic end was beyond anyone's control."

"The Truman Show" star has denied any involvement in the death of his ex-girlfriend, makeup artist Cathriona White, in September 2015. Cathriona died through overdosing on Ambien, Propranolol and Percocet.  

The Independent reported that her mother Brigid Sweetman filed the wrongful death lawsuit earlier this week. She said that the comedian should be ashamed of himself for treating her daughter this way and for giving her three STDs before she died.

Sweetman indicated in the lawsuit that Carrey tested positive for STDs in a test on January 28, 2013 under a false name. She demands that Carrey released the said laboratory results so that people will be able to know who is lying and who is telling the truth. 

More so, she said that if Jim Carrey publicly releases the results. And if it did not test positive for STD, then she will dismiss the case.

The same Independent report said that Carrey underwent testing for STD using a blood sample submitted on January 28, 2013 at 11:40 a.m. using an alias Jose Lopez. Sweetman is suing the "Liar, Liar" comedian for wrongful death and violation of the Drug Dealer Liability Act.

According to the Belfast Telegraph, this was the second lawsuit that the actor has received this week. Sweetman's estranged son-in-law, Mark Burton, also filed legal action on the actor and holds him responsible for Cathriona's death.

Meanwhile, Jim Carrey's lawyer responded to Sweetman's allegations saying that it was understandable that a mother who has lost her daughter will point a finger at someone. However, blaming Jim Carey and capitalizing on Cathriona's death, Sweetman is joining Mark Burton down the same "dark path." The response also called Burton as "Cathriona's green-card husband."

Carrey also said that it was actually easy to get this over with but he has to stand up against evil. He said that he won't allow this attempt to exploit Cathriona whom he called the woman that he loved. Finally, he wished that people stop trying to profit from her death and let her rest in peace.

Cathriona White and Jim Carrey had an on and off relationship. The couple split only to reunite and remain until Carrey broke off their relationship days before she committed suicide.
