The Passion of the Christ: Sequel has been titled "Resurrection"

In a segment of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, actor/director Mel Gibson revealed a movie sequel to "The Passion of the Christ".

The Passion of the Christ was released back in the 25th of February, 2004. During the talk show segment where Mel was discussing his directed film "Hacksaw Ridge" starring Andrew Garfield and Luke Bracey, he announced the sequel for the biblical film. The sequel is titled "Resurrection."

No release date was given yet, in fact Mel Gibson said in a different interview at Lakewood Church that "It's going to take some time because you don't half do something like this." This is according to Christian Post Entertainment. The source also said that Mel will be teaming up Randall Wallace (screenwriter of the film Braveheart), the film "Resurrection" will be 3 years off because it is said to be "a big subject."

In Mel's interview with Stephen Colbert in the Late Night show, where Mel and Stephen also had a skit where they asked philosophical questions according to Los Angeles TimesStephen questioned how the story of Christ's resurrection can be turned into a whole film seeing as how not much "action" occurred during that time.

Mel then explained that he plans to have the movie revolve not just on Christ's resurrection but as well as the journey of Christ though the days of his death. Mel told Stephen that the antagonists of the sequel film will be "in another realm" since in the Colbert elaborated the sequence of the resurrection where "Jesus descended in to hell. Rose from the dead..."

Mel teases that he plans to include infernal scenes in the movie sequel.
