The Force Awakens proved that the world is not done with Star Wars just yet. As the seventh installment of the beloved franchise, it brought back iconic characters, like Luke and Leia Skywalker and Han Solo, as well as introduced new ones, like Rey, who is now the subject of several fan theories. And as the Collector's Edition Blu-ray set hits the shelves, more has been revealed between the protagonist Rey and the Sith Kylo Ren.

In the director's commentary, director J.J. Abrams shares that Rey (Daisy Ridley) and Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) have never met before the events of The Force Awakens. This was referring to the scene when Kylo was looking for Rey in Takodana's woods, after having a Force vision on the castle of Maz Kanata.Slash Film indicates that the revelation of the director would seem to derail theories that Rey was once a student of Jedi Master Luke, along with Kylo (who as still known as Ben Solo at that time), or that they are siblings.

This may be the case between Rey and Leia as well. According to Screen Rant, in the scene where the two ladies meet and embrace each other, Abrams made it clear that it was also the first time for the two of them to meet, and that the embrace was due to their strong connection to the Force, and the mourning of losing someone (in this case, Han's death). Fan speculations, then, stating that Rey could be a daughter of Luke, will be difficult to prove, thanks to these commentaries.

It does not clear up one of the biggest questions since The Force Awakens graced the big screen last year, and that is the parentage of Rey. Her abilities and story still leave a lot of possibilities in the galaxy far, far away.  While no definite answer has been given at the moment, Episode 8 may provide more insight on that matter, if not solve the puzzle outright.
