Ed Sheeran Upset over Face Injury? James Blunt, Princess Beatrice to Blame

Princess Beatrice reportedly cut singer Ed Sheeran on his face with a ceremonial sword after a shared prank with James Blunt. Reports have said that the royal princess was upset about the accident but Sheeran, despite reportedly being rushed to the hospital, harbored no ill feelings at all.

The Sun reports that the accident happened when Princess Beatrice was about to bestow knighthood at his friend, James Blunt in jest after he professed to wanting to become a "Sir." Princess Beatrice and Blunt reportedly did the mock knighting ceremony where the blade was tapped on the shoulder for a knighthood but when the royal told the singer to arise, the accident happened. The princess did not know how heavy the ceremonial sword was and swung it unexpectedly at Sheeran who was unknowingly standing behind her.

A couple of guests who were there were horrified and expressed that Sheeran could have lost his eyesight if the cut was any nearer his eyes. Sheeran was reportedly taken to the hospital to have his right cheek stitched up. Princess Beatrice reportedly felt awful about the incident but Sheeran assured her that it was only an accident. The whole incident was known when the "Thinking Out Loud" singer had pictures of his cheek gash posted online.

The incident happened during a dinner party at Royal Lodge near Windsor Castle. According to The National Post, Princess Beatrice had invited Sheeran, Sheeran's girlfriend Cherry Seaborn, Blunt, Blunt's wife Sofia Wellesley and several other guests including the Princess' mother, the Duchess of York. After Sheeran received treatment for his stitches, he reportedly went back to the dinner party.
