"Vampire Chronicles" author Anne Rice has always been communicative to her fans online. She recently announced on her Facebook page that her book series will be made into a TV series instead of the planned film franchise.

Rice stated that she along with her son, Christopher Rice will be creating the pilot script and an outline for the "Vampire Chronicles" TV series. Additionally, she plans for her and son to be executive producers and that she may open the "Vampire Chronicles" series with "The Vampire Lestat."

The film franchise for "Vampire Chronicles" had been in negotiations for years with Universal Studios and Imagine Entertainment. Rice said that the plan "did not work out" but was glad at the turn of events because with her and her son becoming producers, the TV series will be faithful to her characterization of the main vampires Lestat, Louis, Armand, Marius and more to name a few.

There is already a movie based off on Rice's "Vampire Chronicles" which was aired in 1994 called "Interview with the Vampire," the first book of Rice's book series. According to Collider, there was even a sequel based off the book "Queen of the Damned," a movie with the same name that was released in 2002. However, it lacked the necessary factors that made it somehow not as popular as the original movie.

Rice's "Vampire Chronicles" book series comprises of more than 10 books so the decision to turn it into a TV series "Game of Thrones" style has also been brought to Rice's attention by her fans.

The "Interview with the Vampire" movie cast Tom Cruise as Lestat, Brad Pitt as Louis and Antonio Banderas as Armand. With the "Vampire Chronicles" TV series in the works, there has been a clamor from Rice's fans that the original actors once again reprise their roles as the vampires especially Tom Cruise who plays the vampire Lestat. There is no official word yet as to who will be cast to play in Rice's "Vampire Chronicles" TV series.

Anne Rice's complete "Vampire Chronicles" book series can be bought here. For those who missed out on the "Interview with the Vampire" and "Queen of the Damned" movies, they are available for purchase as well.
