Angelina Jolie has reportedly filed for divorce against Bradd Pitt this September. The former couple is currently embroiled in a legal battle regarding their kids, Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, and twins Knox and Vivienne.

Jolie reportedly wants sole custody of the kids, while Pitt wants joint custody. According to Hollywood Life, Pitt has only been allowed to temporarily visit the children since then.

The "Maleficent" actress is pursuing sole custody of the kids and courts generally give parents the decision especially if the other parent is unfit to care for the children.

Pitt has been accused of child abuse and was investigated by the FBI and Department of Child & Family Services. He was cleared of the accusations this Thanksgiving.

If Jolie is awarded the sole custody, she has the option to give Pitt visitation rights on a schedule but any and all decision regarding child-rearing will remain solely to her.

Pitt, on the other hand, wants to get joint custody of the children. According to Nolo.com, a joint custody is when two parents share the right to make decisions in the best interests of the child.

This means that both Pitt and Jolie can have the kids in legal and physical custody at any time they deem fit regardless if don't live under the same roof.

Pitt and Jolie will need to work out a schedule or have the court do it for them if arrangements have not been decided. In this way, Pitt and Jolie's kids will need to spend time with either parent alternatively for periods of time.

Since the divorce filing of Pitt and Angelina, rumors have been rampant online regarding the two. The latest one links the "Allied" actor to actress Kate Hudson, saying that she is the mysterious woman that the actor has been secretly seeing in the past couple of weeks.

Rumors of Pitt and Hudson recently circulated online after a magazine claimed that the two were secretly seeing each other. Knowing Pitt's legal battle with his former wife, could his romance with Hudson hurt his chances of getting joint custody for the kids?

Daily Mail reports that the rumors surrounding Pitt and Hudson were debunked. There is also no actual evidence of the two seeing one another.

Pitt and Jolie met on the set of "Mr. and Mrs. Smith," in 2005 but were only formally married in 2014.
